Discover Your Backcountry

Backcountry Beautiful
Vail, Colorado
Alongside the adrenaline-pumping activities of the Vail Valley lies over 350,000 acres of White River National Forest. Our peaks and valleys not only offer adventurous activities, but the opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of our forests, mountains, and rivers.
Backcountry Beautiful creates meaningful experiences in nature that bridge the distance between your inner backcountry and your everyday frontcountry life. We foster connection to yourself and others, as well as nature's more-than-human world.
Through guided forest therapy walks, you are invited to explore your inner backcountry, reconnect with what matters most, and return to your frontcountry life feeling more grounded. Let your senses reconnect these two landscapes, allowing you to move through the world with greater authenticity, purpose, and meaning.

The Backcountry Within
We all have a frontcountry and a backcountry.
Our frontcountry is the part of ourselves that the world sees—the achiever, caregiver, professional, friend, parent, and community member. It is where we navigate our responsibilities, pursue our goals, and engage with the demands of everyday life.
Our backcountry is our inner landscape. It is the quieter, less-traveled terrain within us—the place where we seek meaning, peace, wonder, and truth. It holds our deepest values, our authentic voice, and the parts of ourselves that are quiet, protected, and waiting to be rediscovered.
When our frontcountry and backcountry become disconnected, life can feel rushed, fragmented, or out of balance. Through the practice of forest therapy, nature invites us to slow down, see and listen deeply, and touch, taste and smell the world around us.

"And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul."— John Muir

What Others Have To Say
Pamela H.
"Leslie is THE BEST! She was the magic behind our recent family ski trip to Vail. She cheerfully did a massive food shopping before our arrival and made and dropped off several delicious dinners during the week (such a nice break from non-stop pizza!) She is a wonderful person who knows all the ins and outs of Vail. If you want a real vacation, do yourself a favor and call Leslie!"
